Our linseed oil primer is a colorless primer oil and the ideal solution for anyone who wants to prime exterior wood before painting it with linseed oil paint.
It is based on our cold-pressed, organic linseed oil from an organic farm in Sweden with many years of experience in processing flaxseed. This linseed oil is free of mucilage and of the highest quality.
The primer ensures good saturation of the wood in outdoor applications. It should be applied before painting with linseed oil paint, as it allows the wood to breathe and ensures a more even coat of paint. It is suitable for all types of wood. Both new and old, planed and rough wood benefit from the primer. It is also breathable, allowing the wood to "breathe."
The linseed oil primer consists of linseed oil, which is excellent for strengthening wood because the linseed oil molecules are much smaller than the wood pores and can therefore penetrate the wood particularly well. During the curing process, the linseed oil expands by up to 20%. It seals the pores and prevents the wood from absorbing water, thus increasing its strength.
The origin of the linseed oil plays a crucial role in its drying properties. Purity is also essential; even the smallest amounts of impurities from other seeds negatively affect the drying time of the linseed oil. It is important for us to be in close contact with the manufacturer directly; this ensures quality and gives us the assurance that we are not working with genetically modified raw materials.
Risk of spontaneous combustion! Rags/paper soaked in linseed oil can easily catch fire. Store rags and papers soaked in linseed oil in an airtight metal container or immerse them in water.
