Linseed Oil Paint Ultramarine Blue

The linseed oil paint Ultramarine Blue is immediately ready to paint. Our ultramarine blue is a warm and rather dark shade of blue.

Ultramarine blue was originally made by grinding lapis lazuli into powder. It remained an extremely expensive pigment until a synthetic ultramarine was invented in 1826. Ultramarine linseed oil paint is transparent and creates therefor a very beautiful depth, something luminous. The name comes from the Latin ultramarinus, literally "beyond the sea", because the pigment was imported into Europe from mines in Afghanistan by Italian traders during the 14. and 15. centuries.

Ultramarine blue is not lightfast.

Range: approx. 15 m² / liter

You can choose whether you want the colour with or without a drying accelerator. The siccative additive accelerates the drying process by about one day.

We recommend priming with our cold-pressed linseed oil to saturate the wood.

If you are still undecided, you can order our colour samples.

(Please note: samples are without Desiccants)

Risk of spontaneous combustion! Rags/paper soaked in linseed oil can easily catch fire. Store rags and papers soaked in linseed oil in an airtight metal container or immerse them in water.
